4. Prepping The Scrap Plywood

It was incredibly nice of the construction workers to give me plywood for my board… but as it had been outside and exposed to the elements for weeks, maybe months, the boards needed a bit of prep work before there were ready to be pressed. I rigorously sanded down both sides of the wood and did my best to remove all of the dirt and other residue. Although it was time consuming, it was necessary if I wanted to get the best adhesion.

I should also note that I used two sheets of plywood at 3/8’’ inch but ideally you would use two or three sheets of ¼ inch plywood just so that your board doesn’t get too thick (try to stay under and inch total). The thicker the board overall, the heavier and less maneuverable it is.
